We provide a socialization and activity program for persons diagnosed with dementia as well as a support group for family members.

Early stage dementia can be isolating and confusing for both the client and the care partner.

Our programs provide no-cost occupation-based services for people with dementia and their family caregivers. Stepping Stones Denton has a 17+ year history of providing service to the Denton community.

Recently, we have partnered with the city of Flower Mound Senior Center to offer a second Stepping Stones group which follows the same format as our Denton group.

Stepping Stones Denton serves a dual purpose – to provide a socialization and activity program for persons diagnosed with dementia and also as a support group for family members. The Stepping Stones program is provided under direction of two occupational therapists assisted by occasional rehabilitation student interns plus a team of dedicated and trained volunteers. Using goal-directed activities, the program provides a structured array of activities that address social, emotional, cognitive, sensory, and perceptual components. Sample activities include cognitive group games and reminiscences, storytelling, meaningful art activities and manual crafts, yoga, dance, exercise, and physical games. In addition, service activities give our participants a focused opportunity to give to others and be part of a greater community.
